Sarasota Whiskey Obsession
On Friday March 27th, Mafia members Bob Howell and Brent Sehnert attended the Whiskey Obsession Festival in Sarasota Florida. The event consists of a grand tasting with several hundred Bourbons, Ryes and Malt Whiskies available for sampling along with various whiskey related classes that are lead by industry professionals. Among the whiskies available for sampling were Bourbons and Ryes by Angels Envy, Woodford Reserve, Michters, Whistle Pig, High West, Four Roses, Buffalo Trace, Barton, Corsair, Heaven Hill, Makers Mark, Diageo and Jeffersons. Including the scotches, well over 300 whiskies were present, many of which were available for purchase from the onsite store. Kentucky Owl Event at the Beaumont Inn
The Bourbon Mafia would like to thank Eddie Noel and Samuel Dixon Dedman for hosting the Wiseman’s Experience at the historic Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg, KY last night, and for allowing us the opportunity to conduct another charity bottle raffle. Up for grabs was one of the 20 specially made Bourbon Mafia Maker’s Mark bottles and some Bourbon Mafia swag. Time to Raise Money for a Good Cause! In the Spring of 2014, The Bourbon Mafia had the pleasure of participating in an exclusive event with the great folks of Maker’s Mark. As part of the experience, each of the 14 active members in attendance were given a special VIP Maker’s Mark bottle to remember the day. As a bonus, Maker’s Mark provided 6 additional bottles for The Bourbon Mafia to use for charitable collections. All 20 of the bottles were numbered 1 of 20 so everyone can have #1. There’s nothing better than pulling barrel proof bourbon out with a whiskey thief and filling your own glass. On Friday May 9th, Mafia member Dwight Thrailkill had the opportunity to join a group from Louisville for a Knob Creek Experience Barrel Selection at Jim Beam. The group led by Chris Schreck of Schreck Baxter Liquors and Rick Gribbins of Southern Wine & Spirits of Kentucky assembled in the Jim Beam Still House at the Clermont Distillery where they met Craig Weiter, Jim Beam Barrel Selection Manager.
