An evening with Julian Van Winkle

On Wednesday, October 14th, Mafia brothers, Nick Dikeos and Eddie R. Noel, were invited to a private dinner/tasting at Tousey House Tavern in Burlington Ky by owner Brad Wainscott, featuring Julian Van Winkle. Julian provided the group with a little history behind the Pappy and Old Rip brand, followed by a fantastic tasting of 10 yr, 12 yr, 15 yr, 20 yr and 23 yr bourbons. The Mafia invades Maker’s Mark!

On September 22nd, twenty-one members of The Bourbon Mafia and a few special guests took part in the group’s 2nd Annual Day with Maker’s. The day began with a leisurely ride down to the distillery where the group may have had a nip of bourbon (or two). When we arrived, we were greeted by the gracious staff and our guide for the day, Dave Pudlo. Dave has probably forgotten more about the workings of Maker’s Mark than any of us will ever know. The Mafia gives back!

One of the Bourbon Mafia’s mission is to raise money for local and national charities that have a personal link to our members and communities. We are able to raise money through various bourbon themed gatherings, bottle auctions, and other activities in our local communities. David Blackwell, one of the Mafia associates and a member of an organization called Bikers Who Care, proudly promotes the work of The Dream Factory of Clarksville and Camp Rainbow, which help seriously ill children in his community outside Nashville, TN. Willett Distillery tasting with Drew Kulsveen

On July 23rd 2015,Mafia brothers Eddie Noel and Nick Dikeos had the pleasure of attending a Willett Distillery tasting event hosted by Brad Wainscott owner of the Tousey House Tavern in Burlington KY.  Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen was on hand for a short talk and a question/answer session. The tasting consisted of 5 different bourbon samples … a 10, 11, 12, 13 and a 22 yr . Sarasota Whiskey Obsession

On Friday March 27th, Mafia members Bob Howell and Brent Sehnert attended the Whiskey Obsession Festival in Sarasota Florida.  The event consists of a grand tasting with several hundred Bourbons, Ryes and Malt Whiskies available for sampling along with various whiskey related classes that are lead by industry professionals.  Among the whiskies available for sampling were Bourbons and Ryes by Angels Envy, Woodford Reserve, Michters, Whistle Pig, High West, Four Roses, Buffalo Trace, Barton, Corsair, Heaven Hill, Makers Mark, Diageo and Jeffersons.  Including the scotches, well over 300 whiskies were present, many of which were available for purchase from the onsite store.  Among the classes available during the event, the one presented by The Bourbon Mafias own Wes Henderson...
